Only about a month late........

So little buddy's stats are somewhere between here and Colorado on a truck that got re-routed and won't be here until Monday BUTTTTTT that's besides the point :) He had a great 1 year check-up with the doc and here (to the best of my knowledge) are his stats:

Weight - 25lbs 14oz. We are 1/2 a banana away from having a 26 pounder! ALL MUSCLE BABY ;) hahaha......this was close to 90th percentile if I remember right. What do ya know......

Height - 29 3/4 inches - this was close to 50th percentile! Woohoo - getting up there champ!

Head - don't remember but it was over 90th percentile - proportionally the largest part of his body. Big brain......

Our appt was pretty much riiiiiiiiight in the middle of lunch time so I had snacks galore for Decky and he pigged out right in front of our Dr. He was so funny, he loves these little snacks that are basically baby Cheetos (who wouldn't love those?!) and they make your hands a hot mess, so while we were waiting he was feeding himself his snack and when the Dr came in, she was this super nice pretty lady so of course Declan trotted right on over to give hugs - unfortunately the Dr had very nice black pants on so she pulled a quick agile turn to the right, succesfully avoiding my mess of a child, got out some baby wipes, cleaned off his crazy self and THEN gave him hugs :) He also scarfed a banana right in front of her and she was like "ok ok this is good, I'm seeing his has great fine motor skills" :) Oh if only she knew the extent of his fine motor/feeding himself skills......26lbs might give you a clue though.

Everything looks good, Declan's as healthy as a horse and I had no real concerns other than his previous milk allergy which we talked about and she suggested we give cow's milk a try and see how it goes. I had suspected he had grown out of this as he eats literally EVERYTHING and nothing bugs him, and I'm pretty sure milk products are a go. Being from Boulder, obviously you hear and read about the latest and greatest in health and wellness so we aren't keeping Declan on cow's milk but I'm glad to know he isn't allergic to the protein anymore. He's currently on a combo of Almond Milk and Goat's Milk and sucks it down like it's nothing.

Our other great achievement these days is getting buddy off the bottle (how excited are you ;) ?!?!)! I was so very extremely nervous about all of this change in Declan's life - moving across country, changing from formula to milk, trying the cow's milk again (fear of serious allergic reaction right before moving...not good), changing from bottle to sippy cup, growing out of his morning nap etc etc etc but my mom encouraged me to just get it all done in one fell swoop so we tried and Declan, once again you have blown me away. I don't know if I can explain how much this child loves his bottles......................I could go back thru this blog and probably find at least 20 different references on how much of a freak he is when he wants to eat and this was true up until a week ago. Then, one day, I just didn't give him a bottle until bed and it was like he could care less. So long as he had that new delicious almond milk in a sippy cup, he was perfectly content. Now he'll drink pretty much anything out of it which is just wonderful: water, juice, milk, whatevs! I can't believe it - I was prepared for a battle but nope - such a big boy, my baby is. :(  &  :) all at the same time.

So now, where are you buddy - you only take one nap a day, you drink almond/goat's milk out of a sippy cup, you take one bottle right before bed but I'm guessing that will go soon too, you eat everything under the sun, but only if mommy feeds you - if you pick it up yourself, 9 times out of 10 it will end up on the floor because you don't like the texture, but if I give it to you on a fork - see ya!, you can get up the stairs in a solid 5 seconds flat (you are a speed demon), then you love sliding back down on your tummy, when we were at Nana's and I say "Where is your Mickey" - you stop whatever you're doing and walk over to your Mickey Mouse chair and point at Mickey (you are so smart!), you LOOOOOOVE being outside - as a matter of fact, you pitch a serious fit when I take you in after being out for a long time, you are 100% absolutely running now, you crack yourself up - total one man party and you will just randomly start laughing when you play by yourself, you sleep 12-13 hours straight at night, you love love love your bath/shower, you are starting to hit and it is not nice but you think its hilarious - we're working on it..., most things you love begin with "B" so you have those noises/"words" down - "banana", "bottle", "ball", "blankey" etc etc etc, you are SUPER pigeon-toed and bow-legged :), you are unbelievably clingy to daddy right now - probably because you've only seen him 4 days out of the last 2 months but it is super cute and melts your daddy's heart.....................and those are just the beginning of who you are, Declan. You remain just the happiest, most energetic, most hilarious, lovable kid on the planet and you make daddy and I the LUCKIEST parents in the whole entire world. We love love love love loveeeeeeeee you buddy, thank you for being you.
