"NOOOO" video

Little buddy has learned to shake his head "no" - I can't decide if he just likes the feeling on the back of his head as he shakes his head or he really knows what it means but hey, either way its cute :) Until, as my mom always points out, he really learns to say NO to me :) Please let that be a long way off.........

Big helper!

Declan LOVES the laundry room. LOVES. Usually he takes alllllll the dirty clothes out of their respective hampers and then plays. Good times - he also loves the dishwasher.....he is truly his daddy's boy :)

More cheese!

This song came on the radio one day that I was on the road for work and it just totally struck a cord. You can listen to it here:

But here are the lyrics that, every single time, remind me to not take any second for granted because this little boy we have here is growing up wayyyyyyyy too quickly for anyone's good :)

Teach me to number my days
And count every moment before it slips away
Taking all the colors before they fade to gray
I don't want to miss even just a second more of this

It happens in a blink
It happens in a flash
It happens in the time it took to look back
I try to hold on tight, but there's no stopping time
What is it I've done with my life
It happens in a blink

When it's all said and done
No one remembers how far we have run
The only thing that matters is how we have loved
I don't want to miss even just a second more of this

It happens in a blink
it happens in a flash
it happens in the time it took to look back
I try to hold on tight but there's no stopping time
What is it I've done with my life
It happens in a blink

Slow down, slow down
Before today becomes our yesterday
Slow down, slow down
Before you turn around and it's too late

It happens in a blink
it happens in a flash
it happens in the time it took to look back
I try to hold on tight but there's no stopping time
What is it I've done with my life
It happens in a blink

We love you so much Declan......and its true. It happens in a blink......

'Tis the season for "cheese"!

If you are reading this blog then chances are you're fully aware of my affinity for quotes, song lyrics etc and you also know how easily inspired I am. There's one quote in particular that I absolutely love and its been in the back of my head the past week or so and thought I would share...........if I've written it on here before, forgive me.

From the amazing book (you should check it out), "Blue Like Jazz" - "sometimes to love something yourself, you have to watch someone else love it first" - now, obviously I love Declan and obviously I love Paul but there's no reason that you can't be reminded of that or have that love rekindled every once in awhile. Being that its the holiday season, every night on the news they have these "soldiers coming home" or "soldiers surprising their loved ones" moments on tape that they show and I swear I ball my eyes out at every single one. And every single time I thank God that I have my son and my husband with me, right now.

There are no words for how much respect and admiration I have for the men and women that do this on a daily basis - spend days/months/years apart from the ones that they love the most. Paul leaves town for 4 or 5 days at a time and that is quite enough, thank you. I do fine, Declan does fine, but we are much better and much happier together. We are a family and families are supposed to be together. I just truly cannot imagine my life without being able to cuddle with Paul at night or waking up to the sweet babble of our sweet baby. Literally no clue what I would do. This is the happiest I have ever been in my life and not that it takes watching those soldiers reuniting with their families to remind me of that, but it certainly sparks the fire and reminds me to thank God daily for these blessings and not take one second for granted. So here I sit, tearing up just thinking about it, thanking God for giving me such a selfless, loving husband and beautiful healthy happy baby boy. Together, we are just better. Period.

Now and Then

December 10th and October 10th.......look how much taller he is! Tall and LEAN ;) Or just Tall!
****if you click on the pics you'll be able to see them a little bigger

ALWAYS with the blanket!

Over his head :) I go in every night and semi-stalk, semi-make sure he's ok and covered up/warm etc.......I just looooove watching him as he sleeps he's too sweet. Only problem is that I can't ever see him because no matter how we gave him his blanket for night night, he ALWAYS pulls it over his head and sleeps that way. Always.

Side note - he is really growing attached to his blankey and I should probably try to intervene because I'm getting worried that there will come a time that he will be a punk if he doesn't have it but for now, I love that he has something he loves so much and brings him so much comfort. Very cute to see how he snuggles himself all up in it and sighs, so content.

there he is!!!

Trying out some new foods

little buddy wanted my subway sandwich....so we gave him a bite - then he ate the rest of it - complete with mustard, spinach, banana peppers, tomatoes, oil and vinegar and ham...........how he liked that is beyond me but he did.

So apparently we are supposed to let Declan start feeding himself which has me all up in a tiz because I'm already worried about him getting enough fruits and veggies as it is. When he feeds himself, I would say 99% of it ends up on the floor - he's verrrrry into throwing things or letting them go and see where they land (and then having Paul or I pick them up, put them back on his tray only to have him throw it down again) - and this clearly is not limited to simply toys. I know when I feed him what he's getting and usually that is tons of good fruits/veggies/tofu/some type of meat. But THIS - oh this is a whole different ball game.

He's also pretty funny about what he will feed himself. He looks at it and if it doesn't look like a chip or bagel or some type of carb, he won't even try it. Squash? Forget about it - he loooooves it mashed up in a bowl when mommy's feeding it to him with a spoon but feed myself? I don't think so. The fight begins.

Oh yea buddy, hilaaaarious!

Oh you're surprised???? I'm not picking it up for ya stinker!

Loving the face! Strawberry anyone? A little sour I think!

Seriously mom?

AAAAND there we go!

Yep - no more spoon bud!

Channelling Gammy - attemping to read his own palm...........
